How microplastics are affecting marine life
May 23 2025
Environmental impact Tenerife
On May 21st, we joined the El Primer Viaje initiative for a beach cleanup at La Enramada, an event designed to raise environmental awareness and draw attention to the growing challenges facing our marine ecosystems.
🐦 One key focus was the threat of microplastics, particularly their effect on species like the Cory’s shearwater. Alarming studies have found microplastics in chicks that haven’t even left the nest—passed on unknowingly by their parents through contaminated food. A clear sign that plastic pollution has entered the food chain from the very beginning of life.
At Coral Hotels, we believe that every small step makes a difference, which is why we’re committed to promoting more sustainable, responsible tourism.
Special thanks to El Primer Viaje and all the partners who helped make this initiative possible.
