El Médano is one of the most charming beaches in the south of Tenerife, ideal both for water sports lovers and for those who want to enjoy a fantastic day out with the family. This beach has the Blue Flag distinction, which guarantees high quality services and optimum water conditions for bathing.
Located in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, El Médano beach stands out for its fine grey sand and the majestic view of the Montaña Roja volcanic cone. The area closest to the village is the most family-friendly and has the least waves. As you walk along the promenade, you'll find surf shops, restaurants and cafés in a very cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The area further out of town is perfect for windsurfing and kitesurfing. World famous championships are held on this beach, such as the World Windsurfing and Kitesurfing Championships.
Las Teresitas is the most iconic beach in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Located in the village of San Andrés, this golden sandy beach is distinguished by its numerous palm trees and is a very popular destination among the residents of Santa Cruz. The calmness of its waters, thanks to the seawalls that soften the waves, makes it a perfect choice for spending the day with the family and enjoying a stroll along the shore. The beach has all the necessary services (showers, security, access for people with reduced mobility, etc.), and you can complement your refreshing swim with a snack at the beach bars. You also have the opportunity to sample the local gastronomy in the fishermen's guild and in the restaurants in the village of San Andrés.
This is a charming beach with a seaside atmosphere, located next to the pier and the promenade of Puerto Santiago. Located next to the fishing port, this cove protected from the sea was one of the most important natural refuges on the west coast of the island. In winter, the beach is usually uncrowded, while in the summer months it becomes livelier, being one of the favourite places for the locals. Here you can enjoy a refreshing swim, sunbathe and sample the typical Canarian cuisine in the surrounding restaurants and taverns. Moreover, if you are lucky enough to coincide with the celebration of the bonfires of San Juan and the sea mass on the day of El Carmen, you will enjoy an unforgettable spectacle.
A little further away, about 6 km south of El Cotillo, we find Playa de Esquinzo, a 300-meter-long beach that serves as a solitary paradise for surfers or those seeking tranquility and retreat. Surrounded by impressive cliffs approximately 15 meters high, the bay of Playa de Esquinzo is immersed in a wild and romantic atmosphere. The beach is accessed via a dirt path that runs along the cliff, leading to a challenging descent to the beach, where all efforts will be rewarded.
If you practice surfing, you should know that the strong currents, high waves, and presence of some rocks in the water require considerable skill, so it is not recommended for beginners.
Located 1 km south of El Cotillo, this extensive and solitary beach of white sand, dotted with large volcanic rocks, stretches for 1500 meters. With its large waves and strong winds, it is a true natural paradise for advanced surfers, windsurfers, and kitesurfers. Situated in a pristine and secluded environment, it can be accessed via dirt tracks, on foot, or by car. From the top of the cliffs, you can enjoy an impressive view of the rocky walls and fine, sparkling sand, along with the spectacle of the waves, salt, and nature in all its splendor.
El Cotillo is famous for its stunning white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. La Concha beach is one of the most well-known and beloved by visitors. Its crescent shape and calm waters, sheltered by rocky reefs, make it an ideal spot for swimming and snorkeling. The beach is equipped with all necessary amenities, such as showers and beach bars, where you can enjoy refreshments and light meals. Playa de los Lagos, on the other hand, is known for its natural lagoons that form between the volcanic rocks, creating natural pools perfect for a relaxing dip. These beaches offer a safe and pleasant environment for the whole family, with shallow and clear waters.
Costa Adeje is one of the best spots in Tenerife to see whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. Many of these tours also include stops at secluded coves where you can swim and snorkel, enjoying the water’s clarity and the underwater beauty. It’s an educational and exhilarating experience that connects you with nature in a unique way.

The heart of the town, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, is represented by the church of San Antonio Abad, from the 18th century, located in the same place where a hermitage was erected a hundred years earlier. Inside the church, the image of the Cristo de la Salud (Christ of Health) is its most valuable piece. Around it, the stately houses and cobbled streets invite you to take a leisurely stroll.
The centre of Arona has a notable sample of unique buildings. In addition to the church of San Antonio Abad, other memorable buildings stand out. A tour of this urban centre could begin at this point and continue along the streets Domínguez Alfonso, Duque de la Torre and the cross streets of La Luna and del Medio, ending at José Antonio Tavío and El Calvario.
The waters around Tenerife are home to an impressive variety of marine life, including dolphins and whales. Boat trips to spot these majestic animals are one of the most popular activities in Playa de las Americas. Aboard comfortable boats, you can enjoy a relaxing ride while expert guides tell you about the species that inhabit the area. With a bit of luck, you might see dolphins playing in the waves or even spot a pilot whale. These excursions often include stops for swimming and snorkelling, which adds an extra touch of adventure to the experience.

In the heart of Fuerteventura, within the Majorero Cheese Museum, stands the Molino de Antigua, an imposing stone giant that symbolizes the history and tradition of the island. Declared a Historical Artistic Monument on July 29, 1994, this mill, like all the others on the island, is a Cultural Asset. It is a typical mill among the many that adorn Fuerteventura's landscape. These mills flourished thanks to agriculture and were used to grind grain that fed the majoreros, reflecting the importance of cereal production on the island. Despite the passage of time and hard work, the Molino de Antigua is in impeccable condition. Its thick masonry walls and robust wooden structure have withstood the test of time, preserving the essence of an era when windmills were essential to rural life.
Tenerife's crystal clear waters are perfect for exploring the underwater world. Local diving schools offer classes for all levels, from beginners to advanced divers. This is one of the most colourful and eye-catching traditions on the island, and the villagers of Tejina strive to keep it alive. A cross-shaped structure with two wooden hearts, one larger than the other, serves as a base for sewing flowers, fruit and flour cakes. They are prepared on the occasion of the festivities of San Bartolomé, which are held at the end of August. During these festivities, the three main neighbourhoods of the town (El Pico, Calle Arriba and Calle Abajo) present the heart that they have been making for days. Weighing up to 900 kilos and 12 metres high, the men carry them to the church square. There they place them and an amusing ritual begins in which each neighbourhood mischievously criticises the hearts of the others. This fiesta, which has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, is over 100 years old.

During the romería, the statue of the Virgin is adorned with a mantle and carried in procession by pilgrims and visitors from across the island. The celebration, set in the picturesque Rural Park of Betancuria, is one of the most beloved events of the year.
