A Historic Milestone for Women’s Soccer on the Islands

July 3, 2026
Activities
For the first time in its history, Fuerteventura is hosting a Women’s First Division match thanks to an initiative by Coral Hotels. The company is organizing the island’s first elite women’s soccer match, featuring a clash between Costa Adeje Tenerife and RCD Espanyol

In a firm commitment to elite sports, equality, and community engagement, Coral Hotels is taking on the role of organizer to bring an unprecedented event to the island at the Estadio Municipal de Los Pozos. The match between Costa Adeje Tenerife and RCD Espanyol on July 29 will mark the official debut of Spain’s top women’s soccer division on Fuerteventura.
This top-tier match, scheduled for 6:15 p.m., marks the definitive rise in the visibility of women’s sports in the archipelago. The event will not be limited to the 90 minutes of play, but will cap off a week of intense sports and community activities directly supported by the hotel chain and major local institutions.

To this end, the Coral Cotillo Beach Hotel will transform its sports facilities into the Tenerife team’s headquarters. Meanwhile, official training sessions will take place at the El Cotillo Soccer Field, where the team will typically train in the mornings, providing the players with an ideal high-performance environment for their physical and tactical preparation.

Social Commitment: Training and Values for the Majorera Women’s Youth Team
Beyond elite competition, Coral Hotels and Costa Adeje Tenerife reaffirm their commitment to social responsibility and the promotion of grassroots sports. During the training camp, the team’s preparation will take place primarily at the El Cotillo Soccer Field, supplemented by specific strength training sessions and other activities at the Coral Cotillo Beach sports facilities, making use of both the indoor and outdoor gyms at the hotel complex. The Tenerife club’s own professional players will lead exclusive technical workshops.
Registration will open soon for 40 completely free spots so that girls from the island can fulfill their dream of training side by side with their role models, actively fostering young talent in Fuerteventura.
This major event is the result of close organizational collaboration, with essential support from the Fuerteventura Island Council, the Las Palmas Inter-Island Soccer Federation Foundation (FIFLP), the La Oliva City Council, and the Puerto del Rosario City Council.
